News - Swift - Australian Sage Distributor
A recent visit to Williams Soaring and it's owner Rex Mayes , resulted in Swift Avionics becoming the Australian Sage agent. These instruments are mechanically a piece of art. There are so few moving parts, it's amazing. This instrument devised in the 70's by gliding legend Will Scheumann, use a taut wire mechanism to suspend the vario 'needle'. Now, with audio included, all Sage lovers have had their prayers answered !

News - Flarm Firmware 4.07 available
Flarm have released firmware V4.07. V4.03 Flarms are still compatible with latest Flarms, but we have noticed that there are some changes with how your Flarm might operate on the ground. Static targets may NOT be visible when using V4.07

Introducing the Altair / Vega - Advanced Glide computer and latest technology variometer

Vega Variometer is a voice system that incorporates standard vario audio plus voice announcements for average thermal readback, FLARM traffic ( when coupled to older  OzFLARMs, Swiss Flarms or our miniOZ  system ) speed alerts, stall warning ( yes they have a stall warning system available for gliders! ) gear warning , drink water reminders as well as custom messages. The variometer uses latest technology pressure transducers ( 4 ! ) which are temperature compensated as well as using DSP techniques for software filtering ensuring accurate measurements - always. The use of accelerometers further enhances performance making this the most exciting developemt in recent times.

OzFlarm messaging for situation awareness. Different user selectable levels of alert offer true "eyes out of the cockpit " situation awareness.

Vega is a precision air data sensor and audio processing system
designed for use in gliders as an integrated soaring instrument and
aid to situational awareness. Vega is small, easy to use, with a
simple user interface and can be built into small instrument panels.
The air data sensor features a high fidelity total energy variometer,
airspeed indicator, altimeter, stall monitor and meteorological sensors.

  • Vega integrates with FLARM to receive GPS data and aircraft obstruction
    data. The object data announced by FLARM are converted
    to acoustic caution or warning messages.
  • These messagescontain data pertaining to the threat level, direction,
    height, type ofaircraft and distance to the object. For obstructions,
    the messages contain the type of threat and distance.
  • Multiple objects with different hazard potentials are announced.
    FLARM announces a maximum of fifteen objects in the current
    version of the FLARM firmware (3.00). The speech system announces
    the most important four objects (user-configurable).
  • The instrument can interface to an external glide computer such
    as a Portable Digital Assistant (PDA) or panel-mounted Electronic
    Flight Instrumentation System (EFIS).
